Patricia Kelly was CNN's bureau chief in Brussels and a senior international correspondent for 12 years, responsible for establishing the CNN network brand and presence in the Benelux, Scandinavia and Switzerland.

As the network's primary correspondent for Europe, she led news teams to war zones in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo and peace talks in Serbia and Geneva.

A British citizen with a background in newspapers and more recent experience in communications and media relations she is an increasingly popular event host, conference moderator, media trainer and communications coach.

In demand for video and voiceover services, Kelly continues to report and present; her broadcast clients include BBC radio and television, ITV, Sky TV, Channel 4, CBS, PBS, Aljazeera English, Global Radio News and FR24.  She writes on a regular basis for a variety of newspapers and magazines.

Kelly played a major role in CNN's award-winning coverage of the Gulf War, the collapse of the Berlin Wall and German reunification, the breakdown of former Yugoslavia and the enlargement of the EU and Nato.  She initiated CNN coverage of the World Economic Forum in Davos and initiated and developed CNN coverage of the international war crimes tribunal in The Hague.  She also planned and implemented all aspects of CNN's round-the-clock coverage of 1999's Nato air strikes as well as reporting live from Nato HQ on a daily basis throughout the conflict.

“There were no guidebooks, few rules, many professional land mines.  Through it all, as you were writing this book – many times live, working without a script – you served our profession, our viewers and CNN with honor and distinction.  I am proud to have been a part of it with you.  You, in turn, have created a new professional standard for those to come.”
Tom Johnson (CNN Chairman and CEO 1990-2001) – Memo to CNN and Headline News Staffers – February 28, 1991

In addition to developing a number of increasingly popular media training and communications courses, Kelly developed and implemented a major crisis simulation and role-play exercise for senior executives in the food safety industry and offers a bespoke crisis management service.

She has also lectured in media relations and crisis management in command and control warfare at Nato training establishments in Norway, Germany, Belgium and Italy since 1990 and is regularly called upon as an event speaker and awards judge.

Kelly started her journalism career in the UK as a reporter on the Peterborough Evening Telegraph before becoming a foreign correspondent.  She has reported from numerous locations for the Daily Express, Daily and Sunday Telegraphs, Liverpool Daily Post, Birmingham Evening Mail, Manchester Evening News, South China Morning Post and the Kuwait News Agency.

Newspapers and magazines that have published her columns and features include The Times, The Guardian, The Economist, the Financial Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, Mail on Sunday, European Voice.
